Before Moving To-Do List
Here are some things you can be working on prior to your move-out date:
1. Go through all your belongings room by room to determine
a. What you can donate
b. What you can sell
c. What can be packed early
2. Contact movers, get estimates, narrow down what company you’d like to use.
3. Find out what needs to be done to initial school transfers, if applicable.
4. Start packing room by room.
5. Take down wall hangings. Patch and paint holes.
6. As you do all of the above, try to keep things as neat as possible (easier said than done). Your buyer and possibly appraiser may be coming by for inspection.
7. Schedule utility turn off and set up new home utilities.
8. Donate or get rid of the items you still have left that you do not want to take with you.
9. Confirm key pick-up and movers for moving day.
10. Clean as you go and/or have cleaning company come in as you vacate.
